Myanmar exports over 1 mln tonnes of rice and broken rice in January-May

Myanmar exported over one million tonnes of rice and broken rice between January and May, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation.
In May, the country exported over 94,000 tonnes of rice to 16 countries and over 58,000 tonnes of broken rice to nine countries.
Myanmar earned $687.2 million from rice and broken rice export in 2021 and carried out measures to receive more foreign income in 2022.
African countries purchase the rice and broken rice mostly from Myanmar, and Myanmar also exports them to China, the Philippines, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands and Italy.
In April, 35 rice companies exported over 250,000 tonnes of rice and broken rice to 30 countries.
The country exported over 250,000 metric tons of rice and broken rice – 144,034 tonnes of rice and 106,912 tonnes of broken rice — in April.
The country exported over 34,000 tonnes of rice to Cameroon while 23,187 tonnes to China, 15,000 tonnes to Angola, 11,650 tonnes to the Philippines, 11,125 tonnes to Poland and over 48,972 tonnes to other 17 countries.
Moreover, it exported 32,904 tonnes of broken rice to Belgium, 30,754 tonnes to China, 25,000 tonnes to Spain, 13,900 tonnes to the Netherlands, 30,000 tonnes to Poland and over 1,354 tonnes to the other three countries, according to the MRF data. — TWA/GNLM
