Myanmar-Thai experts on workers discuss migrant workers’ affairs

Myanmar-Thai experts on workers held a virtual coordination meeting yesterday.
The Myanmar delegation led by Director-General U Maung Maung Than of the Department of Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population and the Thai delegation led by Mr Phairoj Chotikasatien, Director-General of the Department of Employment joined the meeting.
During the meeting, the leaders exchanged views on conducting COVID-19 tests on Myanmar migrant workers, the extension of health insurance and work permit until 13 September 2021, MoU between two governments, employment agreement, issuance of Certificate of Identity (CI) cardholders, who completed their four-year term visa and worked under MoU system in Thailand, not to return to Myanmar during COVID-19 pandemic, the establishment of CI centres, processes to provide legal stay for undocumented migrant workers and rights of Myanmar migrant workers. —MNA
