The Third Ministerial Meeting on Security Cooperation between Myanmar and Viet Nam was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Aung Thu, Chief of the Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo, directors-general from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs, Minister of Public Security of Viet Nam Gen. To Lam, Ambassador of Viet Nam Dr. Lun Thuy Duong and senior officials.
At the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation in security and the rule of law and fighting transnational crimes including combating drugs, trafficking in person, terrorism which is threatening the regional and the global countries, promoting capacity of police for prevention of crimes and investigation. The two sides also discussed and approved the further cooperation between the two ministries.
After the meeting, Union Minister Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and Gen. To Lam signed the bilateral agreement on cooperation in prevention of crimes and fighting transnational crimes, and the ministerial-level minute of the meeting.
