No plan to increase pensions for retiree at present

As pensions for retirees have been raised for only about one year, the government has no plan to increase them again, Deputy Minister for Finance Dr Lin Aung told the Amyotha Hluttaw on Wednesday.

He was responding to the question raised by a representative who asked whether the government has plan to increase pensions for retirees.
He also said that the increase in pensions depend on budget allocation of the government and the government allotted over K 1.95 trillion for the salaries of government employees and over K 0.5 trillion for pensions and gratuities of retirees in 2014-15 fiscal year.
Then, Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Khin Zaw responded to the question whether the government has plan to dredge and carry out maintenance work at Kandaw Reservoir.  He said his ministry will ask for the budget allocation in 2015-16 facial year to dredge and carry out maintenance tasks at the reservoir.
Afterwards, the representatives discussed the proposal to urge the union government to publish and enforce Myanmar National Building Code. Most representatives pointed out that it is important to abide by the code. Deputy Minister for Construction U Soe Tint said that his ministry will take necessary measures to approve the draft code. The Amyotha Hluttaw Session approved the proposal.
