Nay Pyi Taw, 19 Feb—President U Thein Sein attended the graduation ceremony of a special refresher course for high-ranking officers, organized at his palace here on Thursday, officials said.
Speaking at the ceremony, Union Minister at the President Office U Tin Naing Thein urged trainee officers to play their leading role of key drivers in the implementation of the visions, strategies and tactics of the country in accordance with the law.
“The course is designed to hone management skills in line with democratic norms,” he said. The government has set its hope on the creation of a democracy practising the multiparty democratic system, as part of satisfying the desires of the people, he stated.
As part of its mission, the government will continue trying to build lasting peace, get the country out of the category of least developed countries, and help it reach the status of a middle-income country, he quoted the president as saying.
He called on graduating officers to hold reform-minded attitude and determination in making their respective ministries more effective so as to speed up the country’s third wave of reform.
President U Thein Sein presented certificates to three representatives on behalf of trainee officers.
A total of 66 trainees ranking as director-general and managing director attended the course, which lasted from 19 January to 19 February.—MNA
