Two Myanmar women arrested for possessing counterfeit US dollars at Thai airport arrive back

Two Myanmar women, who were arrested for possessing counterfeit US dollar notes as show money at the immigration counter at Thai airport and prosecuted as counterfeiters at Samut Prakan Prison, were protected from facing 25-year imprisonment on 9 September.
Myanmar Labour Attaché Office carried out in line with the procedures for the release of Ma Lin Lin Wai and Ma Khin Yu May and sent them back to Myanmar via the Mae Sot-Myawady border on the morning of 21 September.
Four victims Ma Lin Lin Wai, Ma Khin Yu May, Ma Than Yu May and Ma Phyo Zar Wai were sent to Thailand by the unofficial Wai Yan Htoo Agency on 11 February and sent to the Samut Prakan Prison for showing counterfeit dollars at the airport on 12 February.
The Myanmar Labour Attaché Office received information about the case and saved Ma Than Yu May and Ma Phyo Zar Wai, who faced fines and house arrest/two years and six months of exile, by paying fines with the help of Thai lawyers on 8 April. They were sent back to Myawady from the Mae Sot border on 30 May.
Similarly, Ma Lin Lin Wai and Ma Khin Yu May were released due to the efforts of the Myanmar Labour Attaché Office by cooperating with Thai and Myanmar lawyers. – TWA/GNLM
