Yangon Region celebrates 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition

A total of 737 contestants participated in 25 genres of the Yangon Region 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition. One hundred and eleven gold medals, 69 silver medals and 59 bronze medals, totalling 239 were awarded to winners.
The awarding ceremony was held at the government office’s theatre hall at noon on 14 September according to the COVID-19 health rules.
The ceremony was attended by the patron of the organizing committee for the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and wife, Commander of the Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and wife, Chief Justice Daw Sandar Thwe of the Region High Court, military officers and their wives, regional government ministers and their wives, rectors from universities, region-level departmental officials, responsible personnel from the Myanmar Music Association, the panel of judges of the competition, contestants and guests.
First, Chief Minister U Soe Thein in his opening speech praised the diligence and efforts of the contestants which will pave the way for State-level competitions and urged younger generations of fine artistes to keep making efforts to preserve the prestige and integrity of the nation with their talents.
Next, Yangon Region Advocate-General U Htay Aung gave words of thanks, followed by showing recorded video clips of the competition and giving a performance with the competition song “That-Win-Hlote-Shar-Kyal-Pwint-Lay-Myar”(Motivating Stars).
Afterwards, officials including the chief minister and his wife awarded prizes to the winners. — MNA
