MoC continues trade promotion meeting with Myanmar commercial attachés abroad

The second-day virtual meeting on trade promotion and export of new items is seen in progress on 24 February 2021.

The Ministry of Commerce held the second-day meeting via videoconferencing on the promotion of trade and export of new commodities yesterday with Myanmar commercial attachés from the Republic of China (Beijing, Nanning, Hong Kong, Kunming), Singapore, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Switzerland and the World Trade Organization.

Union Minister Dr Pwint San instructed sharing experiences on difficulties in trade promotion and negotiation and analyzing trade data of countries where the commercial attachés are performing their duties.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo discussed requirements of export norms such as the sanitary and phytosanitary for the agricultural produce, providing assistance from the relevant departments, practices of inspections online except physical inspection, the establishment of logistic facilities such as processing industry and frozen warehouse to export more value-added items.

Union Minister for Foreign Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Naing Oo discussed to sign bilateral trade agreements with partner countries, analysis on the cost-benefit analysis of these countries to understand their trade volume and trade potential, making reports on the trade processes of member countries in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).—MNA
