Human resources, essential for development of the State

“Electrification, smooth transportation, betterment of communications and development of human resources are fundamental for the improvement of a country,” said Chairman of the State Administration Council in the meeting with Union-level officials, Union ministers, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, chairmen of Region and State Administration Councils and Self-Administered Zones and Division Administration Bodies on 6 April.
As a main investment for the State, school-age children and youths must be nurtured to become qualified human resources. As such, efforts are being made to reopen schools as quickly as possible. If the schools cannot be opened, the State and the youths will face a severe loss.
Regarding grade changing of learning in education history, over 1.5 million school-age children started learning in 1997, but 34.71 per cent of them only could attend middle school. Sixty-five per cent of them ended learning in the 5th standard. Later, over 17 per cent of students reached matriculation. According to statistics collected in 2019, a total of 3.7 million people did not have experience in attending the school. Student number of high school education completion declined because students are weak in learning in the ninth standard.
The State Administration Council Chairman called for reviewing the continuous assessment passing system for grade changing of learning, which was one of the education reforms. Currently, as schools have been closed over one academic year, the government is striving for shaping the future of students amidst difficulties. Moreover, it is necessary to prioritize nurturing the ethnic children without experience of learning to become educated.
In Myanmar, everybody can see the weakness of youths not only in education but in morale. They have inadequate knowledge of the language, religion and cultural traditions. Acts of paying tributes to the Lord Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha, parents and teachers are fading out.
All need to help straight nature and life of the youths in time. Horizons of children and youths should be broadened for education, culture and morale. Hence, all the people should join hands with the State to improve human resources for shaping a brighter future of the State and posterity.
