Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Thet Khaing Win received the donation from the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar through videoconferencing.
The Ambassador said the COVID-19 vaccine donation highlights the spirit of a warm and friendly community between China and Myanmar and the development of practical cooperation against the pandemic. He added a special route has been opened through Yunnan Provence to provide emergency supplies such as oxygen concentrators to Myanmar.
The Union Minister expressed words of thanks for the donation. He said the vaccination would be carried out according to the National Deployment Plan. Priority will be given to those living on the Myanmar-China border for successful trade flow in the areas.
Myanmar received 500,000 COVID-19 vaccines as the first donation from China in April 2020. The second batch of 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines and related materials donated by China will arrive in three instalments on 22, 23, and 24 July. Another 4 million doses of the vaccine, which were purchased, will arrive between July and August. — MNA
