Myanmar officials warmly welcomed a total of 401 returnees (297 men and 154 women) repatriated from Laos at Wang Pong port in Tachilek, eastern Shan State yesterday afternoon.
The returnees were tested for COVID-19 under the COVID-19 rules and regulations set by the Ministry of Health and one man was reportedly affected by the disease. He has been separately quarantined for medical treatment, and the rest of the returnees were transferred to Wang Long Quarantine Centres. The returnees who will be tested negative on the third day under the quarantine will be transported to respective regions and states.
Myanmar has been receiving returnees from Laos since 30 July, and yesterday was the 14th time acceptance of returnees. As of yesterday, a total of 4,075 Myanmar nationals have returned home from Laos. — Yasay (IPRD)/GNLM
