47th Anniversary of Rakhine State Day celebrated in Sittway

The 47th Anniversary of Rakhine State Day was marked at U Ottama Hall of Sittway Township yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by SAC members Mahn Nyein Maung, Daw Aye Nu Sein and U Moung Har, Union ministers U Maung Maung Ohn, Dr Nyunt Pe and U Min Thein Zan, Rakhine State Chief minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min, Western Command Commander Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo, UEC member Daw Nu Mra Zan and U Saw Ba Hlaing and other officials.
First, the ceremony was opened with the ‘Gondaw Phwint Simee Khwat” dance performed by the Rakhine traditional dance troupe.
Then, SAC member Daw Aye Nu Sein read out the message to mark the 47th Anniversary of Rakhine State Day sent by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, and the Rakhine state chief minister delivered a speech.
The SAC members, Union ministers and other officials jointly presented certificates of honour to the government employees, police, Tatmadaw members and ward administrators who participated in state development operations, COVID-19 prevention activities and also gave prizes to students who won the essay writing and painting competitions on Rakhine State Day.
Then, Union minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn handed over 1,500 DVB-T2 Set Top Boxes to the Rakhine State Chief minister.
After that, the ethnic traditional dance troupes of Mro, Khami, Dainet and Thet ethnics entertained with their traditional dance and the ceremony came to an end with “Yoe Taung Yeik Ka Tha Chin Than” of the Rakhine traditional dance troupe.
The Rakhine State Day ceremony has been organized since 1975 and now it reaches its 47th anniversary. — Tin Tun (IPRD)/GNLM
