Over 49 tonnes of illegal timber seized in Bago

Under the management of the Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force, a combined inspection team led by the local Forest Department confiscated 47.5822 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated value of K8,088,400) and 2.3162 tonnes of hardwood(estimated value of K347,640, altogether over 49 tonnes of timber from the forest reserves of Toungoo, Pyay and Thayawady districts in Bago Region yesterday.
It is reported that action is being taken under the rules and regulations of the Department of Forest, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee which has been supervising to take legal action against illegal trades. — MNA
