Shwesettaw Manchaung Resort plans to draw tourist attraction

Shwesettaw Manchaung Resort in Minbu (Sagu) Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, under the timber extraction area of the Myanma Timber Enterprise, was opened on 9 February 2019, which covers an area of 700 acres and is located in the Padaung-Pyawbwe Forest Reserve.
“To develop tourism based on elephant conservation, provide employment opportunities for elephant staff and local people and to develop community-based tourism activities is important,” said U Hla Than, assistant manager of the Minbu District timber extraction.
“We need to understand the behaviour and living nature of elephants and to love them. By establishing Ecotourism, we will be able to enjoy the beauty of Myanmar’s natural forest and mountains, and develop a desire to preserve and contribute to the protection of the natural environment,” he added.
U Hla Than said that the Shwesettaw Manchaung Resort was opened to generate revenue for the State through a green business.
Shwesettaw Manchaung Resort is only two miles from Shwesettaw Pagoda.
After visiting the pagoda, visitors may come to the elephant camp, ride the elephants and enjoy the natural beauty of the forest, mountains and lakes along the Mann creek.
There are 11 elephants in the camp, and the cost of riding an elephant is K10,000 per foreigner and K5,000 per citizen.
Pilgrims from all over the country visit during the three months from the fifth day of Tabodwe month to the first day of the new year, which is the Shwesettaw Pagoda pilgrimage period, local people said.
