One woman jailed for 20 years in human trafficking case

A woman who tried to force another woman to marry a Chinese man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for human trafficking.
Daw Hla Hla Yi, Ma Thazin Phoo (alias) Shwe Sin Moe and Kyaw Gyi persuaded Ma …, 38-year-old that she would earn about K20 million a year if she worked as a florist in Mandalay, and arranged for her to be taken to Kengtung via Yangon and forced to marry a Chinese man.
The case has been filed under Section 28/Code 512 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law at Kyauktan Myoma Police Station (W) 1936/2019 and the woman named Hla Hla Yi was sentenced to 20 years in prison under Section 28 of the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Law on 18 January. — MNA
