Nay Pyi Taw welcomes ethnic cultural delegates to Diamond Jubilee Union Day celebration

Chairman Dr Maung Maung Naing of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, as the capacity of chairman of the Diamond Jubilee Union Day Organizing Management Committee, warmly welcomed distinguished delegates of ethnic culture groups from respective regions and states on 4 February at Sports Training Camp in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was inaugurated by the chair of subcommittees, committee members, secretaries, officials concerned and region/state ethnic cultural delegates.
Dr Maung Maung Naing highlighted the objectives of Diamond Jubilee Union Day; non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity and perpetuation of sovereignty. He added that national brethren residing in the country must exert continuous, constructive and concerted efforts to preserve the union. Accordingly, it will bring about equal developments in regions and states.
State Administration Council is making a genuine effort to have equal development across the regions and states, promote the rights of the ethnic brethren, and enhance and preserve the language, literature, culture and customs. Later, the chairman and members greeted the delegates warmly. They observed the accommodation of the delegates, medical service, library and subcommittee offices.
The Diamond Jubilee Union Day event will include a cultural exchange programme and those who will participate in it are 39 from Yangon Region, 33 from Kachin State, 27 from Kayah State, 39 from Kayin State, 37 from Chin State, 34 from Mon State, 35 from Rakhine State and 38 from Shan State, totalling 282 delegates.
The delegates will visit famous spots in Nay Pyi Taw, including the prominent landmark Uppatasanti Pagoda, the replica of Buddha Gaya in Nay Pyi Taw, Defence Services Museum, National Museum, Hluttaw, Planetarium, Gems Museum, National Landmark Garden, Myoma Market, Nay Pyi Taw Water Fountain Park and Junction Centre. — Myo Set Thit/GNLM
