Woman sentenced to life imprisonment for human trafficking

A woman was sentenced to life imprisonment for trafficking a 29-year old woman to China for profiteering, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
Ma Maw Maw Lwin (a) Zin Mar Htay (a) Arr Li persuaded the woman who lived in Salin Township, Magway Region, that working at a restaurant in China would make Yuan 1,300 per month. She sold her to a Chinese man when she arrived in China for forced marriage.
A case was filed against her at the Linzin Area Police Station in Salin Township under Section 24 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. As she has been sentenced to 10 years in prison at Lweje Area Police Station under Section 24 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. As she committed repeated human trafficking case, the Minbu District Court sentenced her to life imprisonment under Sections 24/31 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. — MNA
