Shwebo Pawsan price on the rise

The Shwebo Pawsan is priced at K70,000 per bag at the Bayintnaung wholesale centre in the third week of July and it rose by K5,000 week-on-week, said a rice dealer in Arthawka street.
It was K54,000-55,000 per bag of Pathein-Myaungmya Pawsan at the wholesale centre while K51,000 per bag of Pyapon Pawsan and K49,000 per bag of Bogale Mawkyun Pawsan.
The price of Pawkywe (Meedone) was K40,000 per bag last week and it rose to K41,000-41,500 per bag this week. The broken rice price was K30,000 per bag last week and it declines to K28,500 per bag this week.
‌    On 22 July, the prices of rice delivered by the door-to-door system were K75,000 per bag of Shwebo Pawsan, K62,000 per bag of Pathein-Myaungmya Pawsan, K56,000-60,000 per bag of Pyapon Pawsan and K55,000 per bag of Mawkyun Pawsan, according to customers. The shops sell the 12-pyi bag and the six-pyi bag in addition to the 24-pyi bag this year.
In the early monsoon period, there are proper rainfalls in the delta region. If there are fewer natural disasters in mid and post-monsoon periods, the monsoon paddy can be produced as usual. Within two months before the new monsoon rice season, the low-grade rice price will not be higher than the high-grade rice.
Although the broken rice is exported, there is still a price gap between broken rice and low-grade rice. The country plants 15 million acres of monsoon paddy and three million acres of summer paddy yearly. — TWA/GNLM
