OWIC cards issued to more than 36,000 migrant workers

The Ministry of Labour issued the Overseas Worker Identification Card-OWIC to more than 36,000 migrant workers between 1 February 2021 and 1 June 2022.
The ministry has also been working on signing employment contracts for workers going to work abroad. According to the ministry, a total of 36,365 workers went abroad to work in 57 foreign countries, including 11,123 workers in Thailand, 10,561 workers in Singapore, and 2,083 workers in the Republic of Korea, 7,558 workers in Japan, and 3,286 workers in Malaysia.
The workers who were issued the OWICs were the ones who went abroad through licenced foreign employment agencies, on their own, or leave/PR. In addition, from 25 March to 30 June, the Ministry of Labour signed employment contracts with 39,939 workers. — TWA/GNLM
