Myanmar joins Chinese Language Training and Capacity Building Workshop, and coordination meeting on promoting Myanmar-Russia tourism cooperation

The coordination meeting on promotiong cooperation of the tourism industry between Myanmar and Russia is in progress online yesterday.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung joined the Chinese Language Training and Capacity Building Workshop jointly organized by the ministry and Beijing-based ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and the coordination meeting on promoting cooperation of the tourism industry between Myanmar and Russia via videoconferencing yesterday.
During the Workshop, the Union Minister said the ministry is working with the ACC to ensure tourism development. The country expects Chinese tourists in this open season. The tourism research project and baking training courses are being conducted as human resource development projects under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation with the help of China.
Then, Secretary-General Mr Shi Zhongjun of ACC delivered a speech and Chinese experts explained the criteria for tourist guides, potentials in the Chinese tourism industry and advertising for ordinary and innovative tourism.
Speaking at the coordination meeting on promoting cooperation of tourism industry between Myanmar and Russia, the Union minister said the country permits one-year visa-free travel for Russian travellers starting July 2022. The government wants to accelerate the cooperation in the tourism sector to develop the socioeconomic results between Myanmar and Russia and government and private cooperation in the Myanmar-Russia tourism sector.
Then, Deputy Chairperson Nana Margushevna Gvichia of the Committee on the Development of Tourism of St. Petersburg discussed the tourism cooperation and Chairman U Yan Win of the Myanmar Tourism Federation explained the tourism cooperation of private sectors.
Afterwards, the director-general of the City Tourist Information Bureau of St. Petersburg Government Financial Institution and the director-general of the St. Petersburg Convention and Exhibition Bureau briefed the preparations to facilitate the visitors and holding of travel fairs and meetings. The Union minister then expressed thanks after the attendees exchanged views on the discussion.
At the meeting, Myanmar officials presented a five-minute documentary featuring Myanmar tourist destinations and cultural heritages of ethnic people. — MNA
