Over a half-mln domestic, foreign tourists visit Taninthayi Region within 10 months

According to statistics from the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, more than 600,000 local and foreign tourists visited Tanintharyi Region from January to October this year.
Myeik District, Dawei District and Kawthoung District had 593,763 local visitors and 3,776 foreign tourists between January and September this year. With the visit of 22,178 domestic visitors and 2,467 foreign tourists to these districts in the open season, altogether 622,184 travellers visited two districts during the period of 10 months.
In addition, it is reported that more than 1,000 visitors entered during Thadingyut and Tazaungdaing holidays.
Myeik Archipelago is one of the unspoiled natural beauty spots and is an area of ​​interest to foreign tourists. It was learned from travel operators that a day trip will cost around K200,000.
Tourists are increasingly visiting Myeik Archipelago on speed boats owned by Thai nationals and they focus on visiting Macleod Island, Evil Island, Cocks Comb Island, Lampi Island, Hlinegu (Cave) Island, Dome Waterfall and Bocho Island in the Kawthoung District, stated tourism operators.
There are 56 hotels and lodging houses in the Taninthayi Region and 41 of them are operating in line with current COVID-19 rules and regulations. — TWA/GNLM
