Over 370 tonnes of pharmaceuticals worth over US$9.119 mln imported in Dec 3rd week

More than 370 tonnes of pharmaceuticals, with an estimated value of over US$9.119 million, were imported from foreign countries in the third week of December 2022, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce.
Between 17 and 23 December 2022, Myanmar brought in over 250 tonnes of medicines worth $8.294 million by sea from Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Cyprus, Ecuador, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Spain, the Philippines, Singapore, Portugal, Thailand, the US and Viet Nam.
Also, Myanmar imported over 120 tonnes of medicine worth $0.825 million from China (100 tonnes) and Thailand (20 tonnes) through the border posts.
Myanmar’s pharmaceutical imports in November 2022 amounted to US$53.711 million from about 5,000 tonnes, the Ministry of Commerce stated. —TWA/EMM
