Chinese Ambassador calls on UEC Chair

Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Thein Soe received Ambassador Mr Chen Hai of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar and the delegation at the Union Election Commission office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The Chinese ambassador asked about matters related to preparations to hold the election in accordance with the SAC Five-Point Road Map, the status of political parties and the holding of a free and fair election in peace and stability.
The UEC chairman expressed that the commission is preparing to hold the election, the promulgation of the Political Parties Registration Law and Rules, the verification process of the right to establishing political parties and applications for registration, the use of electronic voting machines in the upcoming elections, the implementation of the proportional representation (PR) system, the holding of fair and just elections that are accepted by voters and contesting political parties, and the voting process for eligible voters under the law.
The meeting was attended by members of the Union Election Commission and officials from the commission office. — MNA/TS
