Commemorative ceremony for 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of Myanmar-Russia Diplomatic Ties

A ceremony to commemorate the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and the Russian Federation was held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-I (MICC-1) in Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of 18 February 2023. The ceremony was attended by members of the State Administration Council, Union-level dignitaries, Deputy Prime Ministers, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar, Ambassadors/ Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Yangon, members of the diplomatic corps, and officials from the concerned ministries.
During the ceremony, U Than Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs read out the congratulatory message conveyed from the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to Mr Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation on the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and the Russian Federation, and delivered a speech.
Afterwards, Dr Nikolai Listopadov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar read out the congratulatory message conveyed by Mr Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation to the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and the Russian Federation, and delivered a speech.
The Union minister in his speech recalled that over the past seven and a half decades, Myanmar and Russia have made significant achievements in their bilateral relations underpinned by mutual understanding, trust and respect for each other despite the distinct histories, cultures and geographical distance. He noted with satisfaction that the growing exchanges of visits and multifaceted cooperation have added momentum to the bilateral relations, especially since the assumption of state responsibilities by the State Administration Council.
The two sides expressed their strong commitment to work together more closely for the further advancement of the friendship and partnership between Myanmar and Russia in the years ahead.
It was then followed by a video clip featuring the bilateral relations and cooperation between Myanmar and the Russian Federation. Artistes from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and the Russian Embassy entertained with traditional performances and cultural dances of both countries.
Afterwards, SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Defence Minister General Mya Tun Oo presented a flower basket to the Russian artistes and the Russian ambassador presented a flower basket to the Myanmar artistes. Then, dignitaries together with the Russian ambassador posed for a group photo.
After the ceremony, dignitaries and guests viewed round the documentary photos on Myanmar-Russia bilateral relations and cooperation displayed by nine ministries and the Russian Embassy, and refreshments were served to the dignitaries and guests, it is learnt. — MNA
