Construction work on a new home for the aged is 90 per cent complete, said U Zaw Min, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Welfare.
The new home for the aged is being constructed in Nyeinchan Thayar Village in Hpa-an, Kayin State.
It is being built using Ks. 180 million fund contributed by the Kayin State government and donors under the supervision of the local government.
“Construction of three hostels and one dining hall has completed.
Now, we are constructing a religious edifice. Upon completion, we will accept helpless elderly people across the country regardless of race and religion,” he added.
The new home is scheduled to accommodate around 50 senior citizens. Kayin State is estimated to have more than 900 elderly people.
