Cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ is coded yellow alert: MHD

Map 1According to the observations at 6.30 hrs M.S.T yesterday, the Cyclonic Storm “FANI” over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining the Equatorial Indian Ocean has moved Northwestwared.
It is centered at about (380) miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee (Sri-Lanka), (535)miles Southeast of Chennai (India) and (630)miles South-Southeast of Machilipatnam.
It is forecast to move Northwestwards. Weather is a few cloud over the North and East central Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal. It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage, said the Meteorology and Hydrology Department.

Cyclonic Storm “FANI” is located at Latitude (7.7) degree North and Longitude (87.5) degree East, centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is (998) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (50) miles per hour at (18:30) hrs MST today.
During next (72)hrs forecast
It is forecast to further intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “FANI” during next (6)hrs and a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “FANI” during next (36)hrs. It is forecast to move Northwestwards and then recurve North-Northeastwards during next (72)hours.
Fishermen, domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts are advised to proceed caution.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL AFTERNOON OF THE 29th April, 2019: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin State and isolated in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.
STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (4 – 6) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon states.—GNLM
