Editorial Workshop on GNLM nomenclature held in Yangon

Editorial workshop on standardization of terms, vocabularies, and usages for the English-edition paper, The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) newspaper, in progress in Yangon yesterday.

The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) newspaper organized an editorial workshop on standardization of terms, vocabularies, and usages for the English-edition paper, the joint venture operation of the News & Periodicals Enterprise of the Ministry of Information (MoI) and Global Direct Link Co Ltd.
The workshop was held yesterday afternoon at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel in Yangon.
Managing Director U Thet Swe of the News and Periodicals Enterprise under the Ministry of Information and Ms Feng Liping, Director of Information and Public Affairs Section of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar addressed opening remarks.
Consultant of the GNLM U Ko Ko (aka) Ko Ko (Sethmu Tekkatho), participated in the workshop as a moderator, while linguistic experts, departmental personnel, and invitees discussed terms and usages proposed by the editorial department of the GNLM. Some terminologies and usages were agreed upon as the style guide of the GNLM newspaper.
GNLM Chief Editor U Aungthu Ya gave an appreciation remark. The event concluded after the invited personnel were presented with gifts by senior officers and editors of the GNLM.
The event was attended by personnel from the departments and enterprise under the MoI, invited personnel from the respective ministries, the director of Information and Public Affairs Section of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar, experienced translators from the news and media industry, former chief editors, and the GNLM editorial staff members. — MNA/TMT
