Golden umbrellas hoisted atop Gyaing Maha Muni, Sula Muni pagodas in Hpa-an

Golden umbrellas are conveyed to the Gyaing Maha Muni and the Sula Muni pagodas in Hpa-an.

A ceremony to hoist the Shwehtidaws (golden umbrellas) atop the Gyaing Maha Muni and the Sula Muni pagodas in Gyaing Village, Hpa-an Township in Kayin State was held at the pagodas yesterday.
First, the congregation received the Nine Precepts from Chairman of Kayin State Sangha Nayaka Committee, principal monk of the Dhamma Vasi Monastery Bhandanta Ashin Uttara, followed by Pritta recitation of the Members of the Sangha.
Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Kayin State Chief Minister Nan Khin Htwe Myint and well-wishers offered Seinbudaw (diamond bud), Hngetmyatnadaw (pennant-shaped vane) and offertories to the Members of the Sangha.
Kyaik Htee Saung Sayadaw Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dr. Bhaddanta Nagadipa then explained the matters of offering diamond bud and pennant-shaped vane to the congregation. Afterwards, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Kayin State Chief Minister Nan Khin Htwe Myint and Myanmar Theravada Buddhist Federation and Border Areas and Hill Region Sasana Nuggaha Association (Central) Chairman Wunna Kyaw Htin Dr. Khin Shwe reported on religious matters to the Members of the Sangha.
Next, vocalist Saint Nay Chi sang Satiya Puja Mingla Yatu composed by eleventh Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Sayadaw Bhaddanta Einda-pala. Myanmar Pyi Thein Tan also sang the song “Yadana Pone.”
State Sangha Maha Nayaka Secretary Sayadaw, Presiding Sayadaw of the Yangon Region Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamapyan Pariyatti Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sandimabhivamsa delivered a sermon, followed by sharing merits gained. The Seinbudaw (diamond bud), Hngetmyatnadaw (pennant-shaped vane) were then hoisted atop the pagoda.
Members of Sangha then consecrated the Gyaing Maha Muni and the Sula Muni pagodas. The two Gyaing Maha Muni and Sula Muni pagodas are said to be built at the place where Royal barge of King Alaung Sithu of Bagan dynasty arrived at. — Min Thit
