Government to organize anniversary of ceasefire agreement on 28 Oct

The government will hold the anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement next week in Nay Pyi Taw.
The organizing committee for this event met at the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor yesterday morning. Secretary of the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) and Deputy Minister from the Office of the State Counsellor U Khin Maung Tin presided over the meeting.
Eight ethnic armed groups signed the NCA on 15 October 2015, followed by the two groups on 13 February 2018. The government has organized the anniversaries of the NCA every year to honour the historic achievements in the peace-making process of the country.
The first and second anniversaries were observed at the Myanmar International Convention Center I and the third event was held at the Shwe San Eain Hotel with the participation of 10+10 ethnic armed group leaders of ceasefire signatories. The upcoming anniversary will take place at MICC II together with an official dinner on 28 October.
A meeting between government representatives and members of the Peace Process Working Team (PPWT) formed by the Peace Process Supervisory Team (PPST) was held at the NRPC in Nay Pyi Taw on 21 October to prepare for holding the upcoming anniversary which will be attended by senior government officials, Union level organizations, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and their cabinet members, former senior officials in the peace process, peace negotiators, and leaders of ethnic armed groups.
Deputy Minister U Khin Maung Tin also spoke of the need to make systematic arrangements to prepare for the ceremony, invitation, security, transportation, accommodation, entertainment, and information matters.
Director General from the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor U Zaw Htay also made additional suggestions for the event.
At the coordination meeting, permanent secretaries, directors-general, deputy directors-general, members of peace supporting teams and PPWT discussed about the preparations being made for the anniversary of the NCA. —MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
