SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, an on-duty team made inspections on 20 and 21 June, according to information.
They seized K7.5 million worth of cosmetics which were not mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Yangon International Airport Warehouse on 20 June and 950 kilogrammes of suspected metal powder which were different from the Import Declaration (ID) at an estimated value of K3.5 million at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint on 21 June. Effective action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, inspections were carried out under the supervision of the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 22 June.
The foodstuffs and consumer goods worth K 9 million which exceeded the value of Import Declaration (ID) worth K9 million were captured at Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint, and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force seized a Super Anbo motorbike at an estimated value of K150,000 in Monywa Township under the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 23 June.
Afterwards, the materials which were used in illegal petroleum drilling worth K478,000 were captured in Mintaegyi Village in Minhla Township, and the action was taken under the Myanmar Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
Similarly, the on-duty team made inspections at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint and confiscated consumer goods, without official documents, worth K5,431,600 from a truck. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, seven arrests estimated at K26,059,600 were made on four consecutive days from 20 to 23 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
