Irrigation water provided to 2,974-acre monsoon paddy in Ngaphe, Magway

Irrigation water has been provided to 2,974 acres of monsoon paddy in the Manchaung Dam irrigated area this year’s monsoon paddy planting season since yesterday in Ngaphe Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, according to U Aung Ko Oo, head of the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Department in Ngaphe Township.
In the 2021-2022 monsoon paddy cultivation season, a total of 3,259 acres in 33 fields in 15 village-tracts have been earmarked for cultivation with irrigation from the Manchaung Dam.

The dam has a capacity of 120,000 acre-feet of water at full brim and the current water level is more than 35,000 acre-feet which is enough to irrigate 2,974 acres of monsoon paddy in the area. It is also reported that irrigation water from the Yin Shay Dam irrigated area will be provided starting from 20 July. – Ma Yu (Ngaphe)/GNLM
