Misbehaving monk of Pyitawtha Monastery in Singaing arrested for defaming religion

The monk U Zawana (aka) Zarni Ko Ko from Pyitawtha Monastery of Singaing Township in Mandalay Region was detained for defaming religion together with another 13 people.
On the morning of 1 January, monk U Zawana streamed a Facebook live video of his birthday party via his Ashin Zawana Facebook Account. The video footage showed that U Zawana misbehaved and violated the Sangha rules in the event. On 3 January, the officials arrested U Zawana (aka) Zarni Ko Ko at the house of Zaw Myo Aung located at the corner of 71st and 102(A) streets in Myothit (1) Ward of Chanmyathazi Township in Mandalay together with another 13 participants, including Zaw Myo Aung.
According to the inspection, U Zawana (aka) Zarni Ko Ko posted support for protests, incitements for government employees to join CDM and spread the false news via his Ashin Zawana Facebook Account.
He used expensive personal items such as shoes, glasses and staff that are not suitable for the monks and also posted his photos using such materials on his Facebook.
He also has communication with the gamblers and plays two- or three-digits lottery games. He also lent K80 million of cash donations to Zaw Myo Aung for gambling games.
Zaw Myo Aung organized the birthday party of the monk at his house and he pounded his house at the banks and faced lawsuits as he could not make repayment. He cooperates with U Zawana for the swindling of money.
U Zawana (aka) Zarni Ko Ko prefers same-sex relationships and he made love affairs with five young men between 2002 and 2021.
He is now charged under the Penal Code Section 295, 505(a) and Gambling Law. — MNA
