Missing police from 17 Dec. Maungtaw border action found killed

Border Guard Police forces patrolling between border Posts 41 and 42 in Maungtaw Township were ambushed at about 3:15p.m. on 17 December.
According to an initial report received, one police personnel was wounded and was treated in time at a hospital while another, Private Aung Kyaw Thet was missing in action with his BA-63 assault rifle and 120 bullets.
Border Guard Police forces and Border Guards Bangladesh forces jointly cleared the area where the incident occurred on 21 December and found the body of Private Aung Kyaw Thet with gunshot wounds in his face, arm and leg near a hill inside the other country. A locally produced detonator was found underneath the body.
Foxholes were also found nearby with two empty packets of POPS brand biscuit manufactured in the other country and 17 spent MA-11 and MA-12 bullet cases. The body was carried back to this side and given a proper burial later in the day. A case has been filed with the Aung Zu police post, according to information released by Myanmar Police Force. — MNA
