MoE minister meets students for drafting NESP 2021-2030

Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi organized the second-day virtual meeting with students’ unions and students to draft National Education Strategic Plan-NESP 2021-2030 yesterday.
Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary and Directors-General, students’ unions, students, representatives and officials from the universities, degree colleges and institutes participated in the online meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister said that economic and job opportunities have been changing due to the technical developments of the 21st Century. The skills of 20th Century wouldn’t guarantee the jobs of 21st Century.
High-level skills are needed to guarantee jobs, and only quality education can provide the skills. Those who with high- level skills will get high-paid job, he added.
He also stressed the importance of shared accountability and responsibility, shared value, shared decision making for sustainable life-long learning opportunities.
United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 is quality education, and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)’s Future of Education and Skills (2030) also stated the education system and skills required for youth’s future.
He added that it is crucial to promote sustainable life-long learning opportunities with high-tech learning and high-touch learning and blended learning.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary and Director-General of the Higher Education Department also made discussions.
