Union Minister U Aung Thaw meets departmental personnel, hoteliers and officials from the hotels and tourism sector and association in Rakhine State yesterday.

Union Minister U Aung Thaw of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism met departmental officials, hoteliers and tourism industry staff and officials from the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association (Rakhine Zone) at Aureum Palace Hotel in Ngapali yesterday afternoon.
The Union minister said that beach areas should be clean and pleasant so that they can attract more domestic and international travellers and cooperation between the ministry and respective stakeholders in the sustainable tourism development in the coastal areas. Union Minister U Aung Thaw stressed that if the tourism industry improves related businesses will also improve; as more tourists enter the region, there will be more job opportunities for residents and income will increase. To increase the number of travellers, it is necessary to implement two aspects — policy and business management — in a balanced manner. The development of domestic tourism should be prioritized and foreign investments also should be invited, he added. The Union minister called for all-round collaborative efforts for the sustainable development of tourism in Ngapali beach areas while the ministry is supporting speedy operations in the interests of the region and the State.
After a round of discussions by attendees, the Union Minister coordinated the necessary things. He looked round the hotels in the Ngapali beach area. — MNA/TS
