Myanmar exports 16,000 tonnes of shrimp to external markets in FY 2022-2023

Myanmar shipped 16,050 tonnes of shrimp to external markets in the 2022-2023 financial year (April-March), with an estimated value of US$56.647 million, according to the Fisheries Department.
As Myanmar sent 14,116 tonnes of shrimp in the 2021-2022 FY, the export volume this year is up by 2,000 tonnes compared to that.
Myanmar exported 14,929.95 tonnes of shrimp to foreign markets through the seaborne trade in the FY 2022-2023, while 1,120.818 tonnes were sent to the neighbouring country through border posts.
Myanmar’s shrimp are delivered to China, Australia, the US, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Europe and African countries. The export values of fishery products stood at $732.156 million in the 2018-2019 FY, $858.96 million in the 2019-2020 FY, $785.021 million in the 2020-2021 FY, $481.657 million in the 2021-2022 (mini-budget), $805.29 million in the 2021-2022 FY, and $765.947 million in the 2022-2023 FY. — TWA/EM
