Myanmar female referee to serve in Asian Cup Women’s Championship


The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has announced that a Myanmar female referee named Daw Thein Thein Aye will serve in the 2022 Asian Cup Women’s Football Championship to be held in India from 20 January to 6 February.
Only three candidates from Singapore and Thailand, including Daw Thein Thein Aye, from Southeast Asia have been selected to take part in the tournament.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has appointed 16 referees, 16 assistant referees, and six video assistant referees for the tourney.
Referees were selected from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.
Assistant referees were selected from Australia, China, India, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, the Philippines, Palestine, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Viet Nam. Video assistant referees were selected from Iran, South Korea, Qatar, Thailand and Oman.
Daw Thein Thein Aye is a former FIFA-certified female referee who has participated in the Southeast Asian Women’s Championships, and 2016 U-20 Women’s World Cup in Puerto New Guinea.
