Myanmar film industry’s centenary committees discuss detailed planning

The organizing subcommittee for successful holding of centenary for Myanmar’s motion picture industry, the centenary magazine publishing subcommittee, and competition organizing subcommittee held a coordination meeting at the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) in Bahan Township, Yangon, yesterday.

U Nyi Nyi Tun Lwin, chairman of the organizing subcommittee and the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization, and subcommittee members held their first coordinating meeting and discussed creating an online media page for promoting the centenary event among the public, coordinating with Myanmar Music Association for composing and selecting famous movie soundtracks, classical pieces and new music appeasing to all three generations, assisting in copyrighting movie soundtracks, compiling the movie soundtracks composed for the competition into an album, and creating souvenirs for the centenary.

Later in the afternoon, the centenary magazine publishing subcommittee chairman and vice-chairman of MMPO, U Aye Kyu Lay and subcommittee members discussed printing the centenary magazine, acquiring content, forming working committees, and paying author fees.

Next, the competition organizing committee held their second coordination committee and committee chairman and MMPO Patron U Kyi Soe Tun and members discussed the centenary article competition, quiz contest, short film contest, cartoon contest and documentary contest invites, inviting and organizing the contests in line with the three objectives of organizing the centenary event, and forming a scrutinizing group for selecting and handing out awards.—Ommar, Yi Yi (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
