Myanmar who died in Thai ship explosion receive over Baht800,000

Thai Ministry of Labour gave over Baht800,000 as compensation to seven Myanmar workers, who died in the Thai tanker explosion that was docked at a shipyard on the bank of Mae Klong River in Samut Sakhon province of Thailand.
The explosion of the oil tanker while it was docked to work on a maintenance procedure on 17 January killed seven Myanmar workers and injured two people.
Thailand Labour Ministry supported Baht50,000 for the funeral of each victim and Baht770,952 for death compensation to bereaved families, totalling Baht820,952.
Moreover, Thai authorities gave 10 years of wages as work injury compensation to Myanmar workers who lost limbs and 70 per cent of one-year wages as work injury compensation to Myanmar workers with minor wounds.
The Myanmar Embassy official in Bangkok also provided Baht5,000 per family of victims. —TWA/MKKS
