Over 1,000 pilgrims visit Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival daily

Over 1,000 pilgrims from various parts of Myanmar visit Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda daily during Pagoda Festival in Sagu township in Minbu district of Magway region, and there are more pilgrims on public holidays, according to the Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of Trustees. The Pagoda Festival was opened on 25 January 2023.
The festival is crowded with pilgrims making donations, taking baths and relaxing in Mann creek and taking memorable photos during the Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival.
“This year, the number of visitors to the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival is over 1,000 a day. At weekends and on public holidays, there are about 4,000 pilgrims and nearly 700 cars. The festival period is from the 5th Waxing of Tabodwe up to the first day of the Myanmar New Year. There are about 600 guest rooms and over 400 shops,” said U Thein Hlaing, vice-chairman of the Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of Trustees.
Similarly, visitors flock to the Mann creek elephant camp during Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival and it is more crowded on public holidays, according to assistant manager of elephant camp U Htet Naing Aung. —Maung Maung (Minbu)/MKKS
