Over 152 tonnes of illegal timbers caught in Nay Pyi Taw, regions/states

The Forest Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various ways and methods including the community monitoring and reporting system (CMRS) to control illegal timber and forest products.
According to data collected by relevant forest departments, a total of 152.9236 tonnes of illegal timbers – 54.4870 tonnes of teak, 24.1132 tonnes of hardwood and 74.3234 tonnes of other woods — were caught in regions/states and Nay Pyi Taw between 1 and 7 August, and the department stated that they arrested 27 suspects along with 15 vehicles. — MNA
