Police destroys 12 acres of opium fields in Kalaw, Shan State

Authorities recently destroyed about 12 acres of opium fields in two villages of Kalaw Township, Taunggyi District in southern Shan State.
A combined team of police wiped out 10.5 acres of opium fields in a valley on the west of Kyauksoap Village of Nannaing Village-tract in Kalaw Township on 5 December.
The authorities also destroyed 1.5 acres of opium fields on the south-west of Myaungchauk Village of Taunggwe Village-tract on 27 November.
Police are working on the opium destruction which is part of the government’s efforts to stem opium production in the country.—Township IPRD (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
