Senior General honours Myanmar 9th ASEAN Para Games athletes

Commander-in-Chief Senior of Defence Services General Min Aung Hlaing honoured Myanmar athletes and sports personnel who took part in the 9th ASEAN Para Games and attended a ceremony donating Ks1 billion seed money to the Myanmar Disabled Sports Federation in a ceremony held at Bayint Naung Yeiktha in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the event, the Senior General said participating in sports competitions benefits the participating individual as well as the organisation and the country that the individual represents. Through sports, love and patriotism for the country develops and thus the sports sector needs to be supported by the entire country, said the Senior General.
The Senior General then presented documents of honour and cash prizes to 9th ASEAN Para Games participants Maung Aung Myint Myat, winner of 3 gold medals in swimming (100, 200 and 400 meter (freestyle) individual competitions; Maung Naing Sit Aung, winner of 3 gold medals in swimming (50 meter butterfly, 50 meter breast stroke, 200 meter medley) individual competitions; Maung Aung Phone, winner of one gold and two silver medals in swimming (100 meter breast stroke, 200 meter medley, and 50 meter freestyle) individual competitions; Lance Corporal Tin Nyo, winner of one gold and two silver medals (javelin, discus and shot put).
Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Serivces Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win, Chief of General Staff (army, navy, air) General Mya Tun Oo, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe, Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win then presented documents of honour and cash prizes to coach U Mya Khaing on behalf of all coaches who guided Myanmar sports personnel to achieve 11 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 17 bronze medals in the 9th ASEAN Para Games.
A ceremony to donate seed money to the Myanmar Disabled Sports Federation was held afterwards, at which Tatmadaw (army, navy, air) families donated Ks100 million, Brighter Future Foundation donated Ks300 million and Myanmar Advisor Company donated Ks300 million.
