Ships stranded upstream of Myinmu due to low water level

Cargo boats and ferries for tourists have become stranded between Ywathit village in Ngazun Township and Nyaungyin village in Myinmu Township due to low water levels in the Ayeyawady River.
Stranded boats, which risk damage while in shallow water, have been waiting for the water level to rise in order to continue their trips.  The average water level of the Ayeyawady River has been dropping year by year since 2010.–Kyemon (624)
