Six schools in Pwintbyu Township, Magway region, have to be temporarily closed yesterday because of flooding by the Ayeyawady River, according to the Pwintbyu Township Education Department.
The total number of schools closed due to the flooding has reached 14, said the education department.
The authorities are making arrangements to help ensure that the studies of school children from the 14 schools are not disrupted, said U Nway Wint Kyaw, Head of Pwintbyu Township Education Department.
Ayeyawady River forces eight schools to close in Moenyo
The level of water in the Ayeyawady River has crossed the danger mark since 25 July in Moenyo, Bago Region,
On 25th July, the water reached 54.85 ft, over two ft above the danger mark.
The education department would make necessary arrangements for studies of the over 340 school children when the water recedes so that their studies can not be disrupted.—IPRD (Translated by KZL)
