Nay Pyi Taw, 21 June — Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Khin Aung Myin, on Sunday, opened a monastic school in Pyawbwe town. On the occasion, the speaker pointed out that in the times of Myanmar kings, offspring of the rulers and the ruled had to pursue their education at the monasteries and they had ability to build a strong empire in the south-east Asia region. And, during the colonial period monasteries played a crucial role in cultivating nationalist fervor. National leader General Aung San in his young age attended monastic school. He also said that while the State is rendering assistance to monastic education schools, people on their part are to give a helping hand to endurance of these schools. A total of ten teachers are teaching 235 students from Grade I to Grade VIII at Hmanhan Monastic Education School in Pyawbwe.
In the afternoon the same day, the speaker went to Yamethin hospital and donated glasses to patients with eye complaint. At the hospital about 2000 people with eye complaint were treated under the sponsorship of Chairman U Khin Shwe of Zaygabar Group.—MNA
