Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr Win Myat Aye, attended the 4th ASEM Conference on Global Ageing and Human Rights of Older Persons at Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul, Republic of Korea, yesterday.
After this, the Union Minister met with Ms Choi Kyung-suk, President of Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute (KODDI) where they discussed raising the living standards and employment opportunities for people living with disabilities, providing them with assisted devices, and enabling them to move around efficiently.
From there, the Union Minister visited the ‘I got everything’ coffee shop opened by PLWDs with assistance from KODDI. He observed how a safe working environment was established for people with disabilities, including handling machinery.
The Union Minister observed how this cooperation between the government, agencies and private companies to emulate similar shops in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and other major cities.
Afterwards, the Union Minister met with Myanmar students studying in South at the local embassy while accompanied by Ambassador U Thant Sin. He explained the processes of his ministry and attendees asked questions in return. —MNA
