Tachilek border records trade volume of US$83.049 mln this FY

The Ministry of Commerce reported between April and September of the 2023-2024 financial year that trade volume at Tachilek on the Myanmar-Thailand border in eastern Shan State amounted to US$83.049 million, as per the Trade Policy Division of the Trade Department.
Myanmar exported goods worth $31.174 million and imported goods worth $51.875 million, resulting in a total trade volume of $83.049 million during this period.
Through the Tachilek border, regular exports include corn kernels, rice, rubber, dried tea, shrimp bran, metal and old cardboard and paper, plastic, cans and bottles.
Regularly imported items at the Tachilek border include fuel, construction materials like cement, car tyres, chemical materials, iron and steel products, plastic raw materials, kitchen appliances, electricity distribution and installation equipment and sports equipment.
The Tachilek border in Shan State (East) facilitates trade with various neighbouring countries. Trade is conducted between Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge 1 and 2 in Thailand, Tachilek-Kengtung-Wan Taping (Mongla) to China, Tachilek-Mongphyat-Mongyaung Mongyu -Special Region 4 (BP 240) to China, Tachilek (Wangpon) to Suvplui port (Special Region-4)-Mongla to China and Tachilek to Talay (Kenglat) to Laos. — ASH/KZW
