Tourists visit Myanmar via Tachilek border gate

International tourists are visiting Myanmar through cross-border gateways to observe the country’s natural landscapes, sceneries, tourist attractions and its various traditions, customs and lifestyles.
A culture-based tourism package is now available for tourists to observe the traditions and culture of the ethnic people.
Some 15,522 visitors entered Myanmar via the Tachileik border gate on a day’s return trip from 27 April to 3 May 2018. Further, some 426 tourists, including from Thailand and third-world countries, visited Mongphyat and Kengtung. Some 111 tourists visited the country with a visa from 27 April to 3 May 2018.
Tourists who travelled on a day’s return trip visited Tarlot market, Bayintnaung Statue, Maha Myatmuni Pagoda, Wamkaung market, Padaung Village, Shwedagon Pagoda, the national landmark garden, Arrkhar market, Chinese monastery and Kyauk Ton market in Tachilek.
Tourists who stayed overnight visited Buddha Footprint Pagoda, Maha Myatmuni Pagoda in Kengtung, Soon Taung Pagoda, and other famous pagodas and places in Mongphyat.
Among the tourists who entered via the Tachilek border gate were 72,122 day trip visitors, and 1,130 who travelled onward to Mongphyat and Kengtung from 1 April to 3 May 2018. Some 775 tourists travelled by air to Tachilek.
