Union Minister U Thaung Tun meets Malaysian Prime Minister

Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government U Thaung Tun visited Malaysia from 4 to 5 September 2018 as Special Envoy of the State Counsellor.
He called on the Prime Minister of Malaysia H.E. Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad at the Prime Minister’s office in Putra Jaya on 5 September and apprised the Prime Minister of Myanmar government’s efforts for national reconciliation and peace as well as developments in Rakhine.
During the visit, the Union Minister also met with Foreign Minister Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah and discussed bilateral relations and cooperation, developments in Rakhine and implementation of agreements on repatriation of displaced persons with Bangladesh as well as MoU with the UN Agencies.
While in Kuala Lumpur, the Union Minister, in his capacity as Chairman of the Myanmar Investment Commission, held meetings with Malaysian business enterprises. He informed them of the change and transformation taking place in Myanmar’s investment environment and invited them to invest in the country. The Malaysian entrepreneurs expressed keen interest to diversify their ongoing business in Myanmar.
